The social media platforms of Meta, including Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, experienced an outage on Tuesday morning, affecting numerous users. Both Facebook and Threads appear to be significantly affected by the outage. As of 10 a.m. ET, DownDetector.com began receiving reports of the apps not loading.

Several users are experiencing issues with their Instagram feeds not refreshing, while others are still able to use the app. In 2021, there was a significant outage that resulted in a disruption of service for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp for a duration of over six hours.

During this time, Facebook, which is now known as Meta, stated that the cause of the outage was due to alterations in the configuration of backbone routers. CNBC's request for comment about the outage was not immediately responded to by Meta.
